Terms of Service
Last updated: July 31, 2026
By using Cosign (“the Service”) you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
1. What Cosign is
Cosign scores and ranks how early you listened to artists who later grew, based on listening history you upload. Free scores and leaderboards are for fun and are not a statement of fact about you or any artist. We also offer paid tools for artists and music companies (Sections 5 and 6) built on the same data, under the rules in Section 3 and our Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where required by local law) to use Cosign. If you use the Service for an organization (Section 6), you represent that you’re authorized to act for it.
3. Your account and content
- You’re responsible for activity under your account and for the data you upload.
- You represent that the listening history you upload is your own and that you have the right to upload it.
- You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your uploaded data in order to operate, improve and describe the Service, as set out in our Privacy Policy. That includes producing anonymized, aggregated statistics — figures that describe groups of listeners and never identify you — which we may publish or provide to third parties such as artists, labels and researchers, including through our paid products. A figure is only produced this way when enough different people sit behind it that no individual can be inferred.
- What this license does not cover. It is not a license to sell, rent, or hand over your raw listening history or any record that identifies you. Your handle, score, medals and early calls are public on the leaderboard and may appear in reporting as described in the Privacy Policy; your email and full listening history never leave Cosign. Set your profile to private, or turn off “Anonymized industry stats” in Settings, and you are excluded going forward.
- You choose a public handle; don’t impersonate others or use handles that are unlawful or infringing.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans — Cosign Pro ($4.99/mo), the artist plan ($19.99/mo), and label seats (Scout $99/seat/mo, Label $299/mo) — are monthly subscriptions billed through Stripe. They renew automatically each month until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime from the billing portal (Settings, or the page you subscribed on). Cancellation stops the next charge; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we don’t prorate partial months.
- If we change a price, we’ll tell you first, and the new price applies from your next billing cycle — never retroactively. Prices exclude any taxes we’re required to collect. Founding-rate pricing stays locked while the subscription remains active.
- We may add, change, or retire features. If we materially reduce what a paid plan includes, we’ll tell you before your next renewal so you can decide whether to stay.
5. Cosign for Artists
- The artist plan lets you claim your artist page and add a profile — bio, links, location, label status, and a business contact. Claims are verified; we may reject or revoke a claim if we believe it misrepresents who you are.
- You’re responsible for what you submit and represent that it’s accurate and yours to share. You give us a license to display it on your artist page and to our label customers — that’s what it exists for. You can edit or remove it anytime from your dashboard.
- If someone has claimed a page that’s yours, email legal@cosigned.fm and we’ll sort it out.
6. Cosign for Labels
- A Scout seat is for one named person; a Label plan covers up to five people at your organization. Don’t share logins beyond your seats.
- Label products show descriptive statistics: aggregated, k-anonymized reads of listening (never fewer than 5 people behind a figure) and records derived from public profiles. You may use them within your organization to evaluate artists. You may not republish, resell, or redistribute the data; extract it in bulk or by automated means; use it to build or train a competing product or dataset; or attempt to identify any individual listener from it.
- The data describes what has already happened. It is not a prediction, a valuation, or advice, and signing decisions — and their outcomes — are yours alone.
- At founding rates the Service is provided with reasonable efforts and no uptime guarantee; we’re a small company and say so plainly.
7. Acceptable use
Don’t:
- Upload falsified, tampered, or fabricated listening data, or otherwise try to game the leaderboard. (We flag manipulated uploads off the ranked board.)
- Scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service.
- Attempt to re-identify anyone from aggregated statistics — this applies to every user, paid or not.
- Use the Service to violate any law or any third party’s rights, including Spotify’s terms.
8. Spotify
Cosign works on listening history you export from Spotify and upload yourself, plus public artist information; some pages embed Spotify’s own player. Cosign is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify. Spotify content (artist names, images) belongs to Spotify and its licensors, and your use of Spotify itself is governed by Spotify’s own terms.
9. Intellectual property
The Cosign name, design, and software are ours. These Terms don’t grant you rights to them beyond using the Service as intended.
10. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Cosign (for example, an artist profile) infringes your copyright or impersonates you, email legal@cosigned.fm with the location of the content and enough detail for us to assess it. We remove infringing content, and we terminate repeat infringers’ accounts. If your content is removed and you believe that was a mistake, write to the same address.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don’t guarantee that the Service will be available or error-free, or that data will be preserved. Free scores and leaderboards are for fun. Paid reads are descriptive statistics about the past — dated facts about who listened and when — and we don’t warrant their accuracy or completeness, and don’t promise they predict anything. Nothing on Cosign is investment, business, or professional advice.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cosign and its operators won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. For paid plans, our total liability for all claims in any year is capped at the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
13. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms; for paid plans we’ll refund the unused remainder of the current period only if the termination wasn’t for a violation.
14. If Cosign changes hands
If Cosign is acquired, merges with another company, or sells the part of the business that runs the Service, your account and data may transfer to the buyer as part of it. Any buyer takes it on these same terms and this same Privacy Policy — they cannot quietly widen what may be done with your listening history by acquiring us. We’ll give notice before any transfer takes effect, and deleting your account beforehand removes your data from what transfers.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms; continued use after changes means you accept them. We’ll update the date above. Changes apply going forward — we don’t retroactively widen what we may do with data you already gave us, and for material changes we’ll tell you before they take effect.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cook County (Chicago), Illinois.
